The victim’s elder brother lodged a complaint against the trio, after the victim’s roommate contacted him and informed him about the attack on Sunday night. Police said they had registered a case of attempted murder against the three attackers.An officer from the Saswad police said the victim was from Baramati. He has been preparing for police recruitment exams in Saswad for the past one year and staying in the hostel.On Sunday night, the victim’s former roommates came to his room and told him that they wanted to host a party there. “The victim and his other roommates did not allow them to do so,” a police officer said.He said the victim then went to the mess to have dinner. After he returned to his room, he objected to the trio’s wish to smoke there. Thereafter, an argument started between the police job aspirant and the three others.“The trio abused him and assaulted him with the sharp weapon. The victim suffered severe injuries to his neck and right shoulder,” the officer said, adding that the police had ascertained the identities of two accused.
