Patna: Speakers at a one-day training programme for fertilizer sellers from across the state stressed the need for strict fertilizer quality control to not only boost crop production but also prevent soil degradation and improve soil productivity.The programme was jointly organised by the Central Fertilizer Quality Control and Training Institute, Faridabad, and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) on the Bihar Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (BAMETI) campus here on Saturday.
Inaugurating the programme, state agriculture director Saurav Kumar Yadav said the training aimed to strengthen fertilizer quality control mechanisms and ensure the timely availability of quality fertilizers to farmers at reasonable prices. He also emphasised the role of fertilizer committees, balanced use of fertilizers, and the need to promote organic fertilizers among both sellers and farmers.Chief trainer, Ravindra Yadav, elaborated on various provisions of the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO), while IFFCO’s state fertilizer distribution manager Ashok Kumar Paliwal said the training would help promote the sale of quality fertilizers across the state.In a separate programme, agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav said corporations and agencies concerned were working to produce and supply quality seeds to the state’s 17.79 lakh farmers for both the Rabi and Kharif seasons.
