Pune: An autorickshaw driver was arrested with his two relatives on the charge of murdering his wife on Jan 28 at their house in Ganj Peth and attempting to pass off the death as an accident. The case took a turn when the victim’s postmortem report revealed she had died of a head injury caused by a blunt and heavy object, police said. The Khadak police identified the victim as Vaishnavi (23) and the husband as Tushar alias Ganesh Tupsundar (28). The arrested relatives are Manoj Kamble (39) and his wife, Vanita Kamble (32), of Bhavani Peth.“Kamble and Vanita helped Tushar clean blood stains from the crime scene and destroyed evidence,” senior inspector Shashikant Chavan of the Khadak police told TOI.Chavan said Tupsundar took his wife to Sassoon hospital for treatment on the night of Jan 28 and told the doctors that she had sustained a head injury in a fall. Vaishnavi succumbed to her injuries on Feb 2 and police registered a case of accidental death. The officer said, “The post-mortem report revealed that she had died of head injuries and we started to probe. The medical report also suggested fresh injuries on other body parts. Our team visited the area and spoke to a few neighbours, who told us that there were regular fights between the couple over domestic issues.”“We suspect that at the time of the incident, Tupsundar hit his wife on the head with a blunt and heavy object. His two relatives came and cleaned the crime scene, destroying evidence. We have invoked charges of murder and attempt to destroy evidence against the arrested trio,” he added.
