Hiremath served with Central Bureau of Investigation, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and other police units in the state and will receive the medal for meritorious service.Assistant commissioner of police Vitthal Kubade was awarded the medal for distinguished service, while inspector Amol Phadtare got the gallantry medal. This was the second President’s Medal for both officers.Kubade is currently posted as the ACP Pimpri division under Pimpri Chinchwad commissionerate. He joined the force on Sept 15, 1993 after training at Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik and was first posted in Bhandara. He later served in Naxalite-affected areas of Goregaon, Salekasa and Shivhora, where he displayed commendable performance during operations.He was awarded the President’s Medal for meritorious service on the day the Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate became operational on Aug 15, 2018. He has received as many as 1,200 rewards and over 450 commendation certificates during his service along with several special service medals.Inspector Phadtare, currently posted at Chikhali police station, joined the force as a sub-inspector in 2014. After training at the academy, he was posted to Gadchiroli and was outstanding as part of the elite C-60 commando unit. He was awarded the President’s Medal for gallantry in 2023 for his exemplary performance in 2021.Deputy superintendent of police Dayanand Gawade of state ACB, Pune, will receive the medal for meritorious service too. He has worked in Raigad district, Pune rural, and other districts.Senior inspector Avinash Shilimkar, who is posted with the local crime branch of Pune rural police, will also receive the medal for meritorious service.Assistant sub-inspector Pradeep Sahebrao Sawant of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group I, Wanowrie, will be decorated with the medal for distinguished service.The medal for distinguished service was declared for Havaldar Rajendra Dhangar of Yerawada Open Prison and Havaldar Sunil Bhausaheb Lande of Yerawada Central Prison. Both have contributed substantially to correctional services.
