Ludhiana: Police have arrested the parents and husband of a 15-year-old girl after medical staff discovered the heavily pregnant teenager was a minor.The arrests followed a report from a local hospital in Jagraon, where the girl, who is about nine months pregnant, had been admitted for treatment.
The case came to light when doctors grew suspicious of the patient’s age. Upon reviewing her Aadhaar identification card, hospital staff confirmed she was a minor and alerted the Ghalib Kalan police post immediately.Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Chamkaur Singh, who is leading the inquiry, stated that the girl’s mother had allegedly arranged the marriage following a divorce from her first husband. Key findings of the investigation include that a 15-year-old girl is currently in her third trimester of pregnancy. Her mother and stepfather are from a village in Moga, while her husband is a resident of the Malerkotla district. The illegal marriage took place several months ago, shortly after which the girl became pregnant.
