Prayagraj: Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati of Govardhan Math, Puri, Odisha, on Sunday said that taking a holy dip at any of the Ganga ghats in Prayagraj, the king of pilgrimage sites, during major bathing festivals is considered extremely meritorious.

The power and faith of Sanatan Dharm are indelible and invincible.Speaking and interacting with devotees at his camp located on Triveni Marg in Sector 4 of the Magh Mela area, Swami Nischalananda explained the significance of major bathing festivals like Paush Purnima, Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami, saying that these major bathing festivals occur due to special auspicious conjunctions.

Even the mere remembrance of the name of Ganga brings welfare to humanity. He, however, said, “Hindus should not limit themselves to just their stomachs and families, but should also be aware of protecting their religion. The younger generation should develop a mindset to study invaluable scriptures like the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, and Shri Ramcharitmanas.”Hindus must awaken to protect their religion. They should discuss Sanatan Dharma and its culture in their homes so that the new generation can learn about their religion. The Shankaracharya said that one should not treat others in a way that one would not want to be treated oneself. A person who has vices like violence, addiction, and adultery in their life is of demonic nature. To bring ‘sattva’ (purity) into life, one should contemplate God and chant and remember God’s name.
