In the North Eastern Students and Youth Parliament Program organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that in the last 10 years, there has been a decrease of 70% in incidents of violence in the Northeast and 89% in the deaths of civilians.
He said that more than 10,500 militants have surrendered and 12 important peace agreements have been signed. Shah said that by 2027 every capital of the Northeast will be connected by train, aircraft and road. The development of the Northeast is being given priority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
