Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 will release the 19th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Bihar’s Bhagalpur, government officials said.
Modi will also address a public rally at the Airport Ground, besides interacting with farmers from several neighbouring districts such as Banka, Begusarai, Khagaria, Purnea, Katihar, Madhepura, Kishanganj, Araria, Lakhisarai, Jamui, and Munger.
Farmers will receive Rs 2,000 under the scheme ahead of assembly elections in Bihar due later this year. Under PM-KISAN scheme, farmers are eligible to receive Rs 6,000 annually, divided into three installments every fourth month.
To oversee preparations for the PM’s visit, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, arrived in the state on Sunday and interacted with farmers cultivating foxnuts, to draw a plan for the much talked about “Makhana board” announced in the recent budget.
The latest installment of the PM-KISAN scheme is scheduled to be released on February 24 in Bihar, a few months ahead of state elections.
According to the Union agriculture minister Chouhan, the installment will have an impact on 9.8 crore farmers, who will cumulatively receive Rs 22,700 crore.
As of now, Rs 3.46 lakh crore has been disbursed under the scheme. After Monday’s release, the number is set to touch Rs 3.68 lakh crore.
Who is eligible for PM-KISAN?
According to the scheme, all the farmers with cultivable landholdings registered in their names are eligible to receive the funds.

The beneficiaries may not be able to receive the payment if they haven’t competed their KYC. Therefore it is important to complete your KYC, which can be done through face authentication, biometrics or OTP received on Aadhaar-linked mobile number
