PM committed to Bihar’s development, says Jaiswal after meeting him at Purnia | Patna News

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his commitment to developing Bihar, state’s industries and RCD minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said after their meeting at Purnia airport on Saturday.Speaking to this newspaper over the phone from Purnia, Jaiswal said he met the PM during his transit to Malda in West Bengal. “I congratulated PM Modi for the BJP’s victory in Maharashtra municipal elections. The PM asked about the development works going on in Bihar and said he is committed to taking the state forward to a new height,” Jaiswal said.Jaiswal, who was the state BJP president during the assembly elections in which NDA secured a landslide victory, told the PM that CM Nitish Kumar is working hard for the state’s all-round development.During the brief conversation, discussion was held on the overall development of Bihar with special emphasis on the immense potential for industries, new investment opportunities, expansion of the road network, and plans to strengthen infrastructure in the state.Jaiswal also said he, along with top BJP leaders, will visit Delhi on Sunday for the nomination of Bankipore MLA Nitin Nabin for his election to the post of BJP national president.“There will be 20 proposers for Nitin ji from each state in his nomination papers to be filed on Jan 19 for the post of BJP national president,” Jaiswal said. Both deputy CMs, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi will also be in Delhi for the next two days, he added.The five-time Bihar MLA is likely to be elected unopposed as the BJP national president. If elected, Nitin (45) will be the youngest BJP national president.

He was declared the party’s working president on Dec 14, 2025.According to the notification issued by BJP’s national returning officer K Laxman on Friday, nomination papers for the party president’s post will be filed on Jan 19. Laxman said that if necessary, voting will be held on Jan 20, and the officially elected new national president will be announced the same day. The entire election process will take place at the party headquarters in Delhi.
