Pickup truck runs over two-year-old boy in Kharadi | Pune News

Pune: A two-year-old boy died after a pickup truck ran him over in Kharadi on Thursday night.The Kharadi police identified the deceased boy as Mayur Aman Malve (2). The police registered a case of causing death because of negligence against the 66-year-old driver of the pickup truck after the boy’s father, a daily wage worker, lodged a complaint with the police.Assistant inspector Ravindra Godse of the Kharadi police said the boy’s family stayed in a workers’ colony in Kharadi. He said the accused pickup truck driver owned a cattle shed near the colony.“The boy, Mayur, was playing in front of his house on Thursday night. The accused went there in the pickup truck at the same time to collect milk,” Godse said.He said the accused pickup truck driver did not notice Mayur and ran him over. The boy was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.“We have registered a case and our investigations are on,” Godse said. The police have issued a notice to the truck driver to cooperate in the probe.
