Physiotherapy services hit as key machines lie defunct at Hisar hospital

Hisar: The physiotherapy department at Hisar General Hospital has been grappling with non-functional equipment for the past six months, leaving patients suffering without essential treatment.Short-wave diathermy and microwave diathermy machines installed in the department remained out of service due to technical faults, hospital sources said. A significant number of patients with bone, nerve and muscle-related ailments visit the hospital daily. Those suffering from arthritis, back pain, cervical spondylosis and shoulder pain are among the worst affected. Though doctors continue to recommend physiotherapy, the unavailability of functional equipment limited treatment options. Patients alleged that they approach the govt hospital expecting affordable or free care but are compelled to either manage with partial treatment or seek costly services at private facilities. Several patients urged the administration to repair the machines or arrange replacements at the earliest. When contacted, physiotherapist Dr Anurag Ginani said the matter was reported to higher authorities and expressed hope that the issue would be resolved soon. Principal medical officer Dr Sapna Gehlawat, however, did not respond to calls seeking comment. MSID:: 128304176 413 |
