Chandigarh: The Chandigarh crime branch has arrested a 28-year-old diagnostic lab owner for his alleged involvement in the firing at Sewak Pharmacy in Sector 32D, in what police suspect is a case linked to extortion and a wider criminal conspiracy.The accused, Rahul Bisht, runs a private lab in Sector 32. Police said he allegedly acted as a facilitator by sharing details about the pharmacy and its owners with a gangster. Investigators are also verifying a viral audio clip purportedly issued by Saba Gobindgarh, an associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claiming responsibility for the attack.

Police said the firing stemmed from a personal dispute that escalated into a planned strike. During the probe, it emerged that Bisht was allegedly in touch with the gangster and provided logistical information enabling the shooters to carry out the attack.tnnThe incident occurred around 10 pm on Friday, when two men arrived on an Activa scooter. One assailant entered the shop and fired two rounds at the counter where co-owner Tanish Luthra (23) was present. Both bullets hit the counter—one shattering the glass—narrowly missing those inside. The attackers threatened the staff before fleeing.Luthra, in his complaint, said he and a staff member were present when the shots were fired and believed he could identify the attackers if produced before him.Police said efforts are underway to verify the audio message, recover the weapon used and identify the remaining accused.The purported audio clip by Saba Gobindgarh surfaced soon after the incident, in which he claimed responsibility and issued threats to the pharmacy owner.
