Ahmedabad: A pet dog was captured and a police complaint filed against its owner on Thursday after a woman was bitten by the animal in a residential society in the Shilaj area.The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a white Labrador dog attacked a woman inside a housing complex. Following the incident, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) captured the dog on Thursday and shifted it to a dog shelter. A police complaint was also registered against the pet owners at the Bopal police station.In a press release, the AMC’s Cattle Nuisance and Control Department (CNCD) said the Labrador, owned by residents of flat in Kaveri Sangam Flats near Shilaj Cross Roads, attacked the woman on Jan 20, at around 1 pm. According to the department, the owner’s daughter was taking the dog down the stairs on a long leash when the animal attacked the woman on the staircase.A team from the AMC’s Dog Complaint Cell visited the site on Thursday for an investigation and found that the dog was vaccinated and duly registered.The CNCD said it filed an online application at the Bopal police station seeking legal action against the owners for negligence, including allowing the pet to move in a manner that caused harm, the injury caused to the victim, and failure to take necessary precautions to prevent a dog bite. The victim also filed an online complaint, following which the police registered a case against the owners.
