Patrolling cops thwart Vasco bank burglary

Vasco: A bank burglary was foiled in Vasco due to timely intervention of police staff who were on patrolling duty in the early hours of Monday.Vasco police caught Rayappa Shiraganvi, 50, a resident of Varunapuri and native of Belagavi, red-handed. He has been remanded in two days police custody.Shiraganvi entered Bank of India by cutting the window grille at around 12.33am on Monday. Police on patrol noticed the broken window grille and suspected foul play. Upon peering into the bank, they found Shiraganvi attempting to steal. He was brought to the Vasco police station and placed under arrest under Section 62, 305 of the BNS. Police sub-inspector Plato Carvalho is investigating.
