Patiala cops impose traffic curbs for craft mela at Sheesh Mahal

Patiala: The Patiala traffic police have earmarked three parking areas and implemented one-way, no-parking and tow-away arrangements in view of the large footfall expected during the Punjab Sakhi Shakti Craft Mela at Sheesh Mahal from Feb 21 to March 2, 2026.SP Traffic HS Mann and DSP Puneet Singh Chahal said the arrangements were made under the direction of SSP Varun Sharma to ensure smooth traffic movement in the city, particularly around the Mela venue. They said that with the support of the district administration and the Municipal Corporation, one-way traffic, no parking and tow-away road arrangements were also implemented.

The three parking areas were identified as Dakala Chungi T-Point, Sanjay Colony Road and Govt Mohindra College parking area. The SP said visitors arriving at NIS Chowk from either Upper Mall Road or Lower Mall Road could access the main entry of Sheesh Mahal by following the one-way route. They could then park by turning right at Dakala Chungi T-Point to reach Parking Area 1 behind Sheesh Mahal on Dakala Road, or by turning left towards Sanjay Colony Road to use Parking Area 2. Visitors could also park at the Govt Mohindra College parking area.The general public was advised to avoid the stretch from NIS Chowk to Sheesh Mahal, as well as the inner Dakala Road on the rear side of Sheesh Mahal.
