Pargat slams DGP, CS speeches at AAP rally

Chandigarh: Former Punjab education minister and MLA Pargat Singh has strongly criticised the speeches delivered by serving director general of police (DGP) and chief secretary at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally in Moga. He said this was the first time in history that senior govt officials openly addressed a political rally from stage. He called it a serious violation of service rules and constitutional principles.Pargat described the incident as clear politicisation of the police and administration. He questioned how a serving officer could address party workers from the stage like a political leader? He urged the Punjab governor and the Central govt to seek an immediate explanation from the officers concerned and to take strict departmental action to prevent such incidents in the future.

He warned that if such actions were allowed, it may put pressure on other officers to behave similarly. He alleged that the AAP already misused the police and administration during by-elections and other political events. According to him, officials were meant to maintain law and order at rallies, not to deliver speeches or act like party representatives. Pargat said this serious matter requires urgent attention to protect the neutrality and dignity of govt institutions.
