Over 380 rural link roads in Prayagraj to be renovated

Prayagraj: After a gap of 5 years, 387 rural link roads spanning across Phaphamau, Phulpur, Handia and Soraon assembly constituencies will be renovated with Governor Anandiben Patel giving nod to the proposal sent by the public works department (PWD) four montsh ago.A budget of Rs 56.86 crore has also been released for the project. The responsibility for executing the works is assigned to PWD’s construction division 4 (Kumbh Mela). The division initiated the tender process and aims to complete it by Feb 20. According to officials, once agencies are selected, the renovation work will be completed within 4 months. The project covers a total stretch of 494.55 km of big and small roads across the four assembly constituencies. The state govt undertakes road renewal works every 5 years, and under this cycle, 387 roads were identified for reconstruction. Both main roads and rural link routes will be rebuilt under the sanctioned budget to improve connectivity and ease transportation for residents. Key roads included in the project are the Handia–Soraon–Phulpur–Handia route via Damgarha; the Balrampur Bazaar to Jagatpur railway crossing road via Lilapur, Jamunipur and Dhokri, leading to Binda; the Sahson to Tiwari Pur, Belwa Girdharpur, Babuganj and Saraichandi link road; and the stretch from Jabaradih pond on National Highway to Ahiran Bind Basti. Other important routes, such as the Lahati canal culvert to Bighiya section on the Soraon–Phulpur–Handia road, Lamhi link road, Sarai Khatun link road, Garapur to Paigambarpur via Nibi Khurd to Dhurwa road, and Raiya link road, will also be renovated. Executive engineer Surendra Singh said the tender process has begun, and the department is committed to completing the renewal work within the stipulated timeframe.
