‘Operation Andhkar’ in Pratapgarh exposes massive power theft

Udaipur: In simultaneous raids under “Operation Andhkar” by more than 200 officers and personnel, Pratapgarh district police and the power department exposed widespread electricity theft in the district. Superintendent of police B Aditya, who supervised the operation, said houses and farmhouses were raided and 10 persons were arrested by police.The SP said 35 VCRs for electricity theft were filed, with a total penalty amount of Rs 23,80,000 assessed. Large quantities of illegal electrical equipment were recovered, including 27 single-phase illegal transformers worth Rs 15.39 lakh and 4 three-phase illegal transformers worth Rs 3.26 lakh. Additionally, 950 metres of illegal cable and 8 water motors being used for power theft for irrigation were seized. The operation included forces from 8 police stations, including Arnod, Hathuniya, Dholapani, Pratapgarh, Devgarh, the QRT team, and the women’s Kalika team. From the electricity department, executive engineer Mitthalal Meena along with 8 AENs and 100 employees handled the technical front.
