Kanpur: Police on Friday arrested a member of the Bawariya gang, who had been absconding for the last 11 years in cases of murder, robbery and dacoity across various districts. A pistol and two cartridges were recovered from him, the police said. ACP Majay Singh said a reward of Rs 75,000 was announced on the accused by Kanpur and Jaunpur police.A dacoity had occurred in 2015 at the house of one Raja Singh of Khadamau village under Bilhaur police station. The dacoits had thrashed family members with sticks, and Raja Singh died in the assault. A case of dacoity and murder was registered against four unknown persons.Police said the investigation revealed that the accused, Kallu alias Firoz, a nephew of Saleem, leader of the Bawariya gang and resident of Makanpur, was absconding. He was also accused of dacoity and murder in Shahganj in Jaunpur in 2014.The accused lived at different places in various states under changed names. A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced against him by the Jaunpur police and Rs 25,000 by Kanpur police, the ACP said. On a tip-off, inspector Araul police station Janardan Singh Yadav arrested the accused on Friday near in Singhauli village. tnn
