Odisha gangrape case: Juvenile board sends 6 minors accused of Class IX girl’s rape to rehabilitation centre

BALANGIR: Police on Wednesday produced all six minors, aged between 14 and 16, accused of a Class IX girl’s gang rape, before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent them to a juvenile rehabilitation centre in Balangir.“All six accused have been charged for circulating an objectionable video on social media platforms, along with rape charges. The mobile phone used to record and circulate the video has been seized. Medical examination and counselling of the survivor have been completed,” SP (Balangir) Abhilash G said. Himanshu Lal, IG (Northern Range), visited the area to oversee the investigation. According to police, the video was recorded inside an under-construction house while a group of boys sexually assaulted the girl. The incident is reported to have occurred on Dec 25, 2025.
