NTPC to support 10 govt schools in Bhagalpur through smart classes and libraries

Bhagalpur: In a step towards supporting govt schools, hospitals and public libraries, the Bhagalpur district administration and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)’s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station (KhSTPS) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday at the Bhagalpur collectorate. It is the first time the district administration has signed an MoU with NTPC under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to assist govt schoolchildren, poor patients visiting hospitals and the establishment of public libraries.Under the agreement, NTPC will set up a divisional central digital library at a cost of nearly Rs4 crore, support 10 govt schools through smart classes and libraries, and install CCTV cameras at strategic locations for traffic control and surveillance, including CCTV-aided vigilance check posts. The MoU was signed in the presence of district magistrate Nawal Kishor Chaudhary and NTPC KhSTPS head of project Ravindra Patel, along with officials from both sides.Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhary said, “The NTPC management has endeavoured to help govt schoolchildren by agreeing to establish smart classes along with well-equipped libraries in 10 schools at present, besides setting up a divisional central digital library at the existing Bhagwan Pustakalaya under NTPC’s CSR activities.”He said the initiative would particularly benefit children from underprivileged sections. The DM added that NTPC would also establish CCTV-aided vigilance check posts in crime-prone and sensitive areas and assist in equipping govt hospitals in remote areas with modern machines.Patel said KhSTPS had consistently supported people through CSR initiatives. “It is our assurance to the district administration of Bhagalpur and the people of the region to provide all kinds of assistance in the near future apart from the present initiative,” he added.
