Vadodara: The city will host a three-day celebration of Indian classical dance as Nrityaparva 2026, one of the city’s longest-running dance festivals, begins on Monday at the C C Mehta Auditorium at the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU).Organized by the Anjali Memorial Committee (AMC), the festival marks over four decades of engagement with Indian performing arts. This year’s edition coincides with several cultural milestones, including 150 years of Vande Mataram, 125 years of Prof C C Mehta, after whom the auditorium is named, and 140 years of the faculty of performing arts.The festival brings together noted dancers from across India and abroad. Organizers said the focus will be on the balance between discipline and interpretative freedom that has shaped Indian performing arts over centuries.The organizers will paid tribute to late Shri Joravarsinhji Jadav, former vice-chairman of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, recalling his contribution to the promotion and patronage of folk traditions. The festival will be inaugurated by the MSU vice-chancellor.
