Bengaluru: Calling out social media chatter that claimed the alleged suicide of Confident Group chairman CJ Roy was over fraud, the group’s managing director, TA Joseph, Thursday clarified that those claims were wide of the mark and that the company’s projects would continue as planned.“A lot of people are talking like they are part of our board and accusing us of stealing money. From our chairman to the security personnel, everyone worked hard daily to scale up the company to this level. We don’t have any black money and don’t take away investors’ money; such things don’t exist here,” he said in a video statement, pointing out that certain YouTube channels have accused Roy and the company of fraud, scams and black money without furnishing any proof. He also reflected that this form of misinformation has adversely affected Roy’s family, who are mourning his loss. “Those peddling this should understand the suffering of the family and friends of a developer while seeing this. The head of their family died and these people are scavenging from that. Please stop this, and nobody should believe it,” he said emotionally.Openly challenging allegations against the firm, the MD sought proof from those social media channels. “If you have proof or anything credible to support your allegations, then please come and show it to me. You are pretending that you are part of our company or with the income tax or CBI. You should all understand that none of this is true,” Joseph retorted. While Roy operated out of Bengaluru, it was Joseph who took care of the company’s operations in Kerala. Addressing concerns among clients and homebuyers, Joseph stated the pause in ongoing works was temporary because of Roy’s death. “On the day the chairman died (Friday), work did not happen on Sunday and Monday because a lot of staff were at the funeral. Our clients need not worry; not even a single paise will be lost.”
