Noida Special Economic Zone Phase 2 set to get substation for 4k factories

Noida: The Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) Phase 2, which serves around 4,000 industrial consumers and nearby areas, is set to receive a power infrastructure upgrade with the construction of an additional 33/11 kV substation. The Rs 12 crore project is expected to be completed by May.The new substation will be equipped with two 10 MVA transformers, doubling the available capacity. At present, the NSEZ is supplied power by a 33/11 kV substation with a maximum capacity of 20 MVA, which officials say becomes inadequate during peak summer demand, leading to frequent outages.“The existing infrastructure struggles to meet peak requirements. The new substation will help ensure a reliable power supply during high-demand periods,” said the chief engineer of the Noida power department, PVVNL, Sanjay Kumar Jain. He added that the substation is being built to provide an uninterrupted power supply to consumers in NSEZ Phase 2.Additionally, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is expanding its power infrastructure with a planned capacity of around 1,000 MVA. Three 220 kV substations in sectors 18, 24, and 32 are already operational, while work is underway on additional substations in sectors 10 and 28.“These facilities are being developed to meet future power requirements in the YEIDA area,” Jain said.
