Noida set to replace 2,500 corroded power poles

Noida: The power department will replace more than 2,500 dilapidated electricity poles across the district to improve supply ahead of the summer peak. The exercise will be completed by March 31.New feeders will also be constructed at the 33/11 kV substation at Thaira, which supplies power to the villages of Roja Jalalpur, Roja Yakubpur and nearby areas in Greater Noida West. The move aims to address the increased summer demand, as the substation in question, catering to over 3,500 consumers, is currently overloaded.Following the approval of a proposal sent to its Meerut headquarters, the corporation has began the replacement process, starting with an initial batch of 500 poles. Subsequent phases will see the replacement of another 1,000 poles, with the remainder to be addressed afterwards. “This work will not only tackle local faults but will also enhance safety by preventing accidents caused by falling of poles,” said an official of the power department.According to superintending engineer Vivek Kumar Patel, the 33/11 kV substation currently services both the Roja Jalalpur and Roja Yakubpur villages. He emphasised that the high electricity demand led to challenges in providing a reliable supply to the residents of these areas. “We are strengthening the power infrastructure to provide an uninterrupted supply to the consumers,” he said .
