Noida: The Authority has approved repair works worth around Rs 16 crore across busy roads, markets and residential sectors to improve city’s traffic flow.One of the major works will be carried out along the DSC corridor covering sectors 47, 48, 100 and 107. Service roads from the DSC t-point towards Sky Mark Mall, the Vodamahadev junction and several 18-metre and 24-metre internal roads will be resurfaced. Uneven road levels at red lights, where vehicles slow down abruptly, will also be repaired. The work is estimated to cost Rs 14.6 crore.Teams will fill potholes, repair tiles, repaint central verges and footpaths on Kailash Road, Gijhore, ESI Road and in sectors 22, 23, 24, 52, 53, 61 and 70. The Noida Authority aims to prevent roads from gradually narrowing due to encroachment and informal parking. These projects are estimated to cost nearly Rs 1 crore.In Sector 32A, in front of Logix Mall, an open and damaged drain that frequently causes waterlogging and forces pedestrians onto the road will be covered with concrete slabs. This Rs 7lakh-project aims at restoring both road width and pedestrian safety on a busy market stretch.A similar problem exists along the MP-3 road near the Morna green belt, where an exposed drain and eroded road edge forces pedestrians closer to the main traffic near an intersection. The Authority plans to cover the drain and strengthen the roadside here at a cost of around Rs 12 lakh.In Sector 8, drains at multiple points will be repaired to prevent rainwater from collecting along road edges and damaging the surface. This work will cost Rs 11 lakh.There will be drain maintenance, concrete repairs, mesh fixing and culvert repairs in Aghapur village so that stormwater flows into proper channels instead of spilling onto the approach roads. This project is pegged at about Rs 45 lakh.Officials said the aim is to make existing roads safer and smoother by fixing faults that often contribute to accidents, especially during rains and peak traffic hours.
