Noida Sector 150 plot owner named in second FIR

Noida: The owner of the commercial plot in Sector 150, where software engineer Yuvraj Mehta drowned last weekend, was named in a second FIR that was filed on Wednesday under sections of the environment protection and water pollution acts. Abhay Kumar was arrested on Tuesday in another case filed for culpable homicide and negligence.

The second FIR names Kumar and four stakeholders in the plot — Sanjay Kumar, Manish Kumar, Achal Bohra and Nirmal Kumar (Lotus Greens).It says the pit, allegedly excavated for basement construction, was left open for a long time near a public road, posing a constant threat to commuters. The pit, it adds, became filled with water and emitted a stench, adversely affecting public health. The FIR also states that large quantities of rubbish and debris were dumped into the pit along with water and that no construction management rules were followed. Based on preliminary findings, police invoked provisions under the Environment Protection Act, 1986, and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 19, besides sections 290 (negligence in building construction or demolition), 270 (public nuisance) and 125 (negligence endangering human life) of BNS.
