Noida plans daily drives against illegal vendors, stalls

Noida: Noida Authority has announced daily anti-encroachment drives against unauthorised vendors, hawkers and roadside stalls operating in public places. The Authority said the move will ensure smooth traffic flow, reduce congestion and keep roads and public spaces accessible.Unauthorised vendors at Atta market, Sector 18 market, Sector 37 and other busy markets often narrow out carriageways, causing traffic bottlenecks during peak hours. Footpaths are often occupied by makeshift stalls, forcing people to walk on the roads. As part of the Authority’s plan, each of 10 work circles is equipped with a JCB machine and a dumper to enable regular and systematic removal of encroachments. The Authority said the daily enforcement would help deter illegal vending and prevent re-encroachment.Teams carried out anti-encroachment drives on DSC Road near New Ashok Nagar, MP-2 Road, in sectors 34, 35, 44, 51, 63, 65, 66, 70, 71, 93A, 124, 126, 150, 155 and 156, Hosiery Complex, Phase 2 and Gejha Tilpatabad on Monday. The operation involved the use of earthmovers and dumpers to clear illegal kiosks, food carts, wooden stalls and temporary structures. Several vendors were seen removing their belongings as enforcement teams removed structures and loaded confiscated material onto trucks.Officials said such actions would continue to prevent re-encroachment and keep public spaces obstruction-free.The Authority regularly receives complaints regarding unauthorised vendors from various sources, including the general public, RWAs, and industrial organisations. To address these complaints, the Authority has initiated this drive.A resident of Sector 51, Sanjeev Kumar, said the sector residents had held a meeting with the Authority officials and raised several civic demands, including the removal of encroachments. “We have demanded resurfacing of the damaged road near Cloud Nine Hospital, along with the installation of interlocking tiles on the footpath and repair of the broken drain in the area. We have sought the installation of interlocking tiles on footpaths along green belts and around parks in the sector,” he said.
