Vadodara: Nine people from Panchmahal and Vadodara districts were booked for child marriage after it came to light that a minor girl was married to a youth.The Panchmahal joint district social security officer registered an offence regarding the marriage.
The official came to know about the wedding of a girl from Ghoghamba in Panchmahal. The wedding took place in May last year. After verifying the information and ascertaining that the girl was a minor, an offence was registered against nine persons at Rajgadh police station on Thursday.These included the parents of the girl, the groom, the groom’s parents, a cleric, and others. The minor bride’s family was from Eral in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district, and the groom’s family was from Asoj in Waghodiya taluka of Vadodara district.
