State govt reports debt at 3.99 lakh crore in 2024-25The state govt informed the assembly on Thursday that the govt’s public debt in 2023-24 was Rs 3.52 lakh crore, while in 2024-25, the state’s debt was Rs 3.99 lakh crore. In reply to a question by Shaherkotda Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar, the govt said in a written statement that in 2023-24, Rs 26,136 crore was repaid as principal and Rs 24,964 crore was repaid as interest. In 2024-25, Rs 29,086 crore was repaid as principal, while Rs 25,945 crore was repaid as interest.

10 complaints in 2 yrs over teachers’ non-academic workIn reply to a question by Patan Congress MLA Kirit Patel, the state govt said that in the past 2 years, the govt received 10 complaints that students’ education was adversely impacted because teachers were assigned tasks other than teaching. The govt said it issued a notification stating that teachers should not be assigned non-teaching tasks other than those of “national interest”.No new city added in ‘Smart City Mission’ in 2 yrs In reply to a question in the assembly, the state govt said that no new city from Gujarat was added to the Smart City Mission project in the past 2 years. Anklav Congress MLA Amit Chavda sought to know how many cities from Gujarat were added to the project during the past 2 years as of Dec 31, 2025.
