Gurgaon: In a shocking incident, a newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a cement bag dumped in a heap of garbage in the Camera Museo area of DLF Phase 4 on Friday morning.A passerby heard the baby’s cries, which led him and others to a nearby trash site, following which the infant was rescued and cops were alerted. A team reached the spot and took the child to Max Hospital for treatment and a manhunt for the person who abandoned the infant was launched. An officer said they are yet to ascertain how long the baby remained trapped inside the bag. “We do not know when the baby boy was left there or how long the child remained inside the bag. It will be clear once we identify the person who abandoned him,” he added. A case was registered under Section 93 (abandonment of a child under 12 years by parents or guardians) of the BNS. Cops are also scanning CCTV camera footage from nearby areas to trace the movement of the accused. Records of women who recently gave birth in nearby areas are also being checked. “Our team is taking care of the child and ensuring proper medical treatment. He is doing fine,” Sector 29 police station SHO said.He added that abandoning a newborn is a criminal offence and assured strict action against those responsible.
