New airport infra for passengers with reduced mobility

Jaipur: Jaipur International Airport has upgraded facilities to ensure that the terminal buildings have inclusive infrastructure for Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM).Officials said the airport recently conducted a special assistance drive for PRM and elderly passengers to ensure a seamless and comfortable travel experience.“The airport has installed PRM assistance booths where trained staff ensure proper care and assistance is provided to PRM and elderly passengers. One significant initiative is the installation of a stairlift at the departures and arrivals area of Terminal 2, making Jaipur airport the first in the country to offer this facility,” said an airport official. The chair-like lift system enables safe and effortless inter-floor movement for such passengers.Officials said wheelchair assistance has also started from the entry point to the boarding gates.“Jaipur airport has installed dedicated check-in counters and special seating near the check-in counters for such passengers. These seats are demarcated with clear signage to ensure easy identification and availability. In addition, a separate e-gate check-in lane is designated to reduce waiting time,” added the official. For visually impaired passengers, the airport has installed Braille maps inside both terminal buildings to provide tactile guidance and help passengers understand the terminal layout.
