‘New Aadhaar centres a boost for digital mission’

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated five Aadhaar Seva Kendras to bring Aadhaar-related services closer to residents. At these centres, citizens can access facilities such as Aadhaar updates, biometric corrections, address changes and enrolment of children.“Approval was granted for eight new centres, of which five were inaugurated. This is a significant step towards strengthening Aadhaar services in Delhi and advancing Digital India Mission. It will promote transparency, good governance and citizen convenience,” CM said while opening a centre in Azadpur.Gupta said Aadhaar had emerged as a robust system, which was ensuring dignity for the poor and protection of rights. “Over 143 crore citizens are linked with Aadhaar in the country, including around 2.5 crore in Delhi. It ensures benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries. Aadhaar-based biometric and iris verification helped curb fake and duplicate beneficiaries, leading to the elimination of crores of ineligible LPG, ration and social welfare beneficiaries nationwide, thereby safeguarding public resources.“She added that Aadhaar enrolment and biometric updates for children were now being carried out in Delhi govt schools, with nearly 2 lakh updates already completed.tnn
