Patna: The final electoral roll for the upcoming Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) elections, scheduled for Feb 28, was released on Tuesday. Nearly 20,000 students will be eligible to cast their votes to elect their representatives.Patna University chief election officer Shankar Kumar said the electoral roll would also be uploaded on the university’s website to ensure easy access for students. He said the draft electoral roll had been published on Feb 6, following which applications seeking corrections were received between Feb 7 and Feb 9.
The sale of nomination papers, priced at Rs 50 each, will begin at 10am on Feb 11 and continue till 3pm on Feb 14. Along with the nomination papers, students will also be provided a 16-page booklet containing the general guidelines and the code of conduct for the students union elections. During the same period, candidates will be able to obtain a ‘certificate of no academic year’ from the office of the examination controller.Kumar said polling will be held on Feb 28 to elect office-bearers for five key posts — president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary and treasurer — besides 24 councillors from various constituent units.He said the unit-wise distribution of councillor posts will be: Patna Women’s College (5), Magadh Mahila College (3), B N College (2), Patna College (2), Patna Science College (2), Vanijya Mahavidyalay (1), Patna Law College (1), Women’s Training College (1), Patna Training College (1), College of Art and Crafts (1), faculty of social sciences (2), faculty of humanities (1), faculty of science (1), and faculties of commerce, law and education (1).“There will be one councillor for every 1,000 students,” Kumar said.
