National Investigation Agency announces Rs 5 lakh for fugitive terror suspect

Bengaluru: National Investigation Agency, probing the Bengaluru prison radicalization-terror module case, announced Rs 5-lakh reward for those sharing information and helping to arrest Junaid Ahmed, alias Junaid, alias JD, alias Jannu, suspected to be hiding abroad.Cops had seized hand grenades and walkies talkies from Junaid’s house at Nagashettihalli, north Bengaluru, during a raid.

Junaid, who entered police records on charges of dealing with red sanders, is among the key persons behind the prison radicalization and terror conspiracy cases linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba in 2023. The accused, who were mostly undertrials, were conspiring to carry out explosions in the city. They were tutored and guided by T Naseer, prime accused in the July 2008 Bengaluru serial blast. In all, 12 suspects, including Junaid, were charge-sheeted in the case.The chargesheet names Junaid’s mother, Anees Fathima, among the co-accused. It details how she procured hand grenades and walkie-talkies, and facilitated communications between various terror outfits and members.
