A second sucessive Cork restart lost and Ruairí Kinsella levels for Meath after a quarter of an hour.
Cork 0-5 Meath 0-4. Another sniff of green for Cork. Meath are again turned over high up the field. Chris Óg Jones flashes over. Important score after three previous white flag opportunities came to nought. Meath have replied with a pair from Aaron Lynch and Jordan Morris’ opener.
Waterford, their defenders anyway, are finding their range. Mark Fitzgerald, Shane Bennett and Paddy Leavey have scored from distance. Michael Kiely follows them and they are two behind Kilkenny.
Some other scores… NFL Division 3: Sligo 1-12 Limerick 1-9; NFL Division 1: Monaghan 0-4 Mayo 0-8; NFL Division 4: Longford 0-0 Tipperary 0-3; NHL Division 1A: Kilkenny 1-6 Waterford 0-5; NHL Division 1A: Offaly 0-3 Galway 0-2
Cork lead Meath 0-4 to 0-2. Mark Cronin’s two-pointer followed by Ian Maguire spoiling of the resultant Meath restart. Move finishes with Dara Sheedy opting for a fisted point when there was a sniff of green. Cork have retained their opening two restarts. Point came off the first, a goal almost came off the second. Seán Brennan smothers Paul Walsh low drive. Sherlock nails consequent ’45.
There have been more wides than scores thus far in Kilkenny. The wind towards the Carroll Stand should be suiting Waterford but they have posted six of them. Kilkenny have struck five and dropped two short.
They are underway at Páirc Uí Rinn. Meath get the first point through Aaron Lynch but Cork hit back with a two-pointer from Mark Cronin and a point from Dara Sheedy. They lead 0-3 to 0-1.
Two changes for Cork for the battle with Meath.

There are also changes to the Meath team. Ronan Ryan start at full-back for the Royals, no All-Star Seán Rafferty. Cian McBride in in the half-forward line for Matthew Costello. Neither Rafferty nor Costello will tog. Conor Gray and James Conlon will wear No.3 and No.12 respectively.
Eoghan tells us a crowd of around 6,000 is expected at Páirc Uí Rinn for Cork’s first competitive game at the ground in nearly two years.

An update from John Fogarty who is at Nowlan Park for the Division 1A hurling league meeting of Kilkenny and Waterford:
