According to sources, the CCTV footage shows Kewat in an orange shirt. However, his relative Sapna told police that he was last seen wearing a maroon shirt on Tuesday. Investigators believe it is possible that Kewat changed his clothes after committing the crime. Rubi, a relative who resided nearby, recalled her last encounter with Kewat on Tuesday night. She said she was returning home around 10.30 pm with her daughter when Kewat cautioned her against staying out late, citing rumours of kidnappers in the area. A senior police officer said they had formed at least 10 teams to trace the suspect. Investigators said that Kewat slit his wife’s and kids’ windpipes, which caused their deaths. There were claims that the wife was pregnant at the time of the murder. Police are awaiting confirmation through the post-mortem report. Police are examining unidentified bodies reported in Delhi and neighbouring states, amid concerns that Kewat might have fled the city or might attempt suicide. Teams have intensified searches, setting up checkpoints and coordinating with local transport authorities to track the e-rickshaw and any leads connected to Kewat. The deceased was identified as Anita, and her daughters were aged between 3 and 5 years. The family lived in the Chandan Park area of Samaypur Badli. The incident was reported around 8.05 am after neighbours alerted the police. A team from the local police station rushed to the house and found the bodies of the woman and her 3 daughters lying on the bed. All 4 victims had their throats slit with a sharp-edged weapon. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victims might have been attacked while asleep. Police are also probing whether the woman and her kids were given sedatives, possibly mixed with food or water, which could have made them unconscious.
