Mumbai: Traffic constable injured in road accident on Jan 28 dies

Mumbai: A traffic police constable, who was injured in a road accident on Jan 28 and suffered injuries, died early on Monday at the Sion Hospital while undergoing treatment. He was knocked down by a car on the Eastern Freeway last week. The police have booked Shirishkumar Jore(57), who works in the Mumbai Port Trust, in this case. He was driving the car at the time of the accident. Jore was going to Chembur when the accident took place, said police.

Traffic rider police constable, Sushant More, was on duty at the Reay Road ramp, Eastern Freeway northbound, on Jan 28 evening. He was hit by the car, causing serious facial injuries. He was admitted to the ICU of Sion Hospital. More was on his duty. Police said that the car driver had applied brakes too but the car hit More. He fell on the ground and sustained injuries on his face and other body parts. “We received information today morning (Monday) that More has passed away,” said an officer from the Sewree police station. The police have booked Jore for punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police had also conducted the accused’s medical examination to establish if he was drunk. The test stated he was not drunk.
