Mumbai businessman assaulted by girlfriend’s brothers, Goregaon police file FIR

Mumbai: Goregaon police have registered a case against three men for allegedly assaulting a 35-year-old businessman, who was keen to get married to their sister, on February 10.The businessman told police that he had met the woman in 2019, and they grew friendly. Later, he proposed marriage. Their wedding was scheduled for Dec 2025, but their families had a dispute and it was cancelled. The couple continued to stay in touch and tried to convince their respective families to agree to their match. But the families did not agree and the couple too started to bicker frequently.

On February 10, the businessman, his mother, and sister reached the woman’s Goregaon residence to ask what was her final decision about their marriage. An altercation broke out between both families, which ended with the woman’s three brothers allegedly beating him up with a bamboo stick, the businessman told police. He also complained of being verbally abused and threatened.
