Mule account network busted, 7 held

Rourkela: Sundargarh district police have busted a mule account network under Operation Cyber Kavach with the arrest of 7 people. Police have issued notices to eight others linked to suspicious transactions exceeding Rs 7 crore. In a press release issued on Saturday, police said they have so far verified over 100 mule accounts. Seven cases have been registered across Bhasma, Dharuadihi, Rajgangpur, Town, Biramitrapur and Kutra police stations relating to mule accounts, fraudulent cheque withdrawals and cash withdrawals.

“Sundargarh police urge the public not to rent out or share bank account details, SIM cards or ATM cards with fraudsters,” the release said, warning that such acts constitute serious criminal offences and will invite strict legal action.
