Rourkela: A medical representative of a pharmaceutical company was arrested by Raghunathpalli police here on Saturday evening, allegedly for killing the manager of the firm on Friday night.The deceased has been identified as Bhagirathi Swain (35). Balaram Das (23), an MR of a pharmaceutical company, stays in a rented house in Civil Township area with a colleague. Swain, manager of the pharmaceutical company where Das is employed, reportedly had come from Bhubaneswar to the Rourkela residence of Das on Friday evening. Swain’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on Friday night in a room of that house, where Das and his colleague stay. Alerted, Raghunathpalli police reached there and seized the body. Police guarded body till the deceased’s family members arrived. Police suspected Das’ role in Swain’s murder and detained him. After post-mortem, his body was handed over to his family on Saturday. The family lodged an FIR with Raghunathpalli police station, accusing the involvement of three people, including Balram Das, in the murder. Police investigations are on. Police questioned Das and he confessed to killing Swain over some old enmity. During a discussion on Friday night, the duo had a heated argument and he gave him fist blows on his face and head. As Swain fell, he hit his head on the floor and died. Raghunathpalli police arrested accused Balram Das (23) on Saturday evening for killing Swain. “We have arrested an accused for killing the manager of a pharmaceutical company and our further investigation is underway,” said M R Pradhan, sub-divisional police officer, Panposh. Swain is married and is survived by his wife and two children.
