MoU signed for sustainable agri growth, livelihood security in E UP

Varanasi: In a significant step towards strengthening agri-innovation and rural development, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU and the Foundation for Advancement of Agriculture and Rural Development (FAARD Foundation) on Tuesday signed an MoU to work jointly for sustainable agricultural growth and livelihood security in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.The MoU was signed by IIT-BHU director Prof Amit Patra and FAARD Foundation president Prof Panjab Singh. The agreement, valid for five years, aims to integrate advanced research, digital technologies and grassroots implementation for the benefit of farmers, rural youth and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).Under the partnership, both institutions will work to develop Eastern Uttar Pradesh as a “Lighthouse Region” for agri-innovation by combining IIT-BHU’s technical expertise and research infrastructure with FAARD Foundation’s grassroots network and experience in rural development.Addressing the gathering, Prof Amit Patra said the collaboration reflects the institute’s commitment to translating research into real-world impact and empowering farming communities through technology-driven solutions. Prof Panjab Singh said the partnership would strengthen farmers’ access to modern technologies, knowledge and markets, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and improved income.Both institutions will share intellectual property generated through joint projects.
