Motorcyclist killed after bike rams into stationary bus’s open luggage door in Mumbai

Mumbai: A 37-year-old motorcyclist died after his two-wheeler collided with the side luggage door of a private bus that had been left open while the bus was stationary at Malad (W). The bus driver and owner fled without taking the victim, Vasant Godekar, to a doctor. It was the bus’s 17-year-old cleaner who tied his own shirt around the injured to stop the blood flow, and took him to a hospital. Cops have registered an FIR against the bus driver and owner.Godekar lived in Malwani with his mother, wife and two children. He would travel to Borivli for work everyday on his two-wheeler. On Feb 24, his wife received a call that Godekar had been injured in a road crash at Malad and was taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli. Godekar was pronounced dead around 1.20 pm. His family rushed to the hospital where they met the 17-year-old boy, who told that Godekar suffered a severe neck injury and was bleeding profusely. Passerbys only shot videos and nobody helped him. The cleaner requested the driver and owner to help, but they fled.
