Pune: A motorcyclist (35) was arrested on the charge of causing death due to negligence after his two-wheeler fatally hit a 70-year-old man in Nigdi on Thursday night. An officer from the Nigdi police said the victim, Maruti Pawar, was walking towards Triveninagar Chowk along the Spine Road around 9pm on Thursday. A motorcycle, also heading towards Triveninagar Chowk, hit Pawar. “The victim fell on the road and suffered severe head injuries,” the officer said.He said residents of the area took Pawar to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. “We arrested the motorcycle driver from Chinchwad,” he said.
