Puri: A 48-year-old woman and her 23-year-old son from Ranchi drowned while bathing in the sea at Puri on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Kusum Gupta and Ansh Raj Gupta. Their bodies were later recovered about a kilometre from where they were swept away.Lifeguard Rakesh Rao said the family had come to Puri to spend their holidays. While the father remained near the shore, the mother and son ventured into the sea. Lifeguards rescued and shifted them to the district headquarters hospital (DHH). Doctors declared them brought dead. Police have sent the bodies for autopsy. The bodies will be handed over to the family.
