Alwar: Four people, including a mother and son as well as a bus driver, died when a sleeper bus crashed into a trailer truck parked on Sewar bridge on Agra-Jaipur National Highway (NH) in Bharatpur district at around 2:30am Thursday.Five other passengers were injured and are undergoing treatment at RBM Hospital in Bharatpur. Police said the collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely destroyed and several passengers got trapped under the seats.Police and relief teams extracted the bodies and rescued the injured with great effort. The bus was travelling from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh to Jaipur.Those who died were identified as Geeta (38) and her son Kanha (8), both residents of Mathura (UP); bus driver Mukkhan Singh (28), a resident of Alwar; and Muslim (40), son of Ismail, a resident of Kasganj. Among the five injured is Geeta’s husband, Ramveer (42).The injured are reported to be in stable condition. As per a preliminary investigation, the driver was talking on the phone at the time of the accident, and visibility was low due to fog, said Bharat Singh Joiya, project director, NHAI.It was also found that there were no warning signs placed behind the parked truck, due to which the driver failed to see the vehicle.
