Mohali police round-the-clock road domination drive: 1 held with arms

Mohali: Mohali police have launched a round-the-clock road domination drive across the district, resulting in the arrest of one person with illegal arms and the seizure of five unregistered motorcycles during the first night of operations. The intensified checking was carried out on the directions of SSP Hamandeep Singh Hans, who ordered a 12-hour night vigil from Saturday to Sunday to strengthen law and order.As many as 70 police nakas were set up across the district in a single night, supported by four quick response teams. All DSP-rank officers were asked to remain on the roads and personally supervise the naka operations.SSP Hans said the aim of the drive is to maintain a strong police presence and keep a close watch on criminal activity. “Clear instructions for night-long domination were issued, and senior officers are monitoring operations on the ground. The focus is on ensuring safety and building public confidence,” he said.DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal said teams were deployed at sensitive points, major roads and all entry-exit routes. “Strict verification of vehicles and suspicious persons is being carried out using VAHAAN and PIOUS applications, and violations are being dealt with firmly,” he said.Police sources said one accused was held with illegal arms and five unregistered motorcycles were impounded during the night checking.DSP Harsimran Singh Bal, who supervised multiple nakas, said the drive is part of a sustained preventive policing strategy. “We are checking for illegal weapons, stolen vehicles and suspicious movement, especially during night hours,” he said.Officials said such drives will continue to deter crime, enforce traffic and safety norms and maintain peace. Residents have been urged to cooperate with police during checking.
