Mobile phone snatchings in Rajajipuram

Lucknow: Back-to-back mobile snatching incidents were reported in the city in a span of five minutes in Rajajipuram late Friday night. The incidents were reported under Talkatora police station limits, following which an FIR was lodged against unidentified people under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Police said that the first incident occurred around 10pm when Ashutosh Tripathi, a resident of C-Block, Rajajipuram, was taking a walk near his house. Two unidentified bike-borne snatchers approached him and fled after forcibly taking away his mobile phone.Minutes later, the same bikers struck again a short distance away, targeting Vinay Kumar Srivastava, a resident of Sector-13, Rajajipuram. Vinay was speaking on his mobile phone while walking when the accused snatched the device and sped away.According to victims, they tried to chase the snatchers but were unsuccessful, as the accused exploited poor lighting in the area to escape.Police filed a case and began an investigation. Talkatora inspector Kuldeep Singh said that CCTV footage from surrounding areas was being reviewed to trace the accused, adding that police teams were deployed and the snatchers would be apprehended soon.
