ML demands CBI inquiry, plans protests
In a fervent call for accountability, supporters of the Jehanabad student who tragically passed away in a Patna hostel are rallying behind the CPI(ML) groups AIPWA and AISA, demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter.

Patna: The CPI(ML)’s two frontal organisations — AIPWA and AISA — on Tuesday pressed for a CBI inquiry into the alleged sexual assault and death of a girl student from Jehanabad who had been staying in a private girls’ hostel in Patna while preparing for the NEET. The two organisations also announced protest marches to press for a CBI probe.Expressing dissatisfaction with the progress of the police investigation, leaders of the two CPI(ML) frontal organisations said a CBI inquiry was necessary, echoing the demand made by the victim’s family.

“The family of the victim is not satisfied with the SIT probe and has been demanding a CBI inquiry. If the govt’s intention is clear, it should not have any hesitation in recommending a CBI inquiry,” AIPWA general secretary Meena Tiwari told reporters on Tuesday.Tiwari, along with AISA senior functionaries Priti Kumari and Kumar Divyam, and Divya Gautam, announced a weeklong “Beti Bachao Nyay Yatra” from Feb 4 to Feb 10 to seek justice for the victim and press for the CBI inquiry demanded by her family.They said the yatra would begin from Makhdumpur in Jehanabad district and culminate with a march to the state assembly on Feb 11. Ahead of this, a public hearing on the case will be organised on Feb 3, they added.
