Mizoram SIR likely to start in Apr: Officials

Aizawl: Preparations for the launch of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls have been more or less completed by Mizoram election officials, as the Election Commission of India (ECI) expects the SIR to begin in 22 states and UTs, including Mizoram, from April, officials of the state Chief Electoral Officer office said on Sunday. The officials said there has been a vast difference between the last SIR in 2004 compared to the current situation in Mizoram. While there were only 795 polling stations in the state during 2004, there are now 1,353 stations in the 40 assembly constituencies.
